Who are you without the next win?

VoyagePhoenix asked me how I got here. I shared my story: growing up measuring my worth in grades, building my first company in Silicon Valley, the burnout I didn’t see coming, and why I started Recalibrate AI. A few highlights are below, and the full interview is on VoyagePhoenix.

Teaching a Recalibrate workshop

Where it started
My story starts in the Soviet Union, where I learned early on that being the best in class was the way to feel good about myself.

Building the first company
I wore every hat: CEO, salesperson, babysitter. Every hat was another chance to prove I could do it all. Underneath all that achievement, I started resenting my own business and burning out.

Who am I without the next accomplishment?
For the first time, I started asking myself that question. It changed my career and the direction of my life.

Why identity
Most personal and professional development works on habits and mindset, the surface layer. It leaves the layer underneath untouched: identity. And identity is what drives our decisions. I call this work Identity Strategy: closing the Identity Gap between who you’ve become and what your next chapter requires. I designed a body of work that creates transformation at the level of identity, and it became the foundation of my methodology.

What the challenges taught me
Life is 50/50. You can have a happy family, a business that’s working, and a life that looks complete from the outside, and something will still go wrong. That’s the other half of the deal.

Felicità
When VoyagePhoenix asked for my favorite childhood memory, this one came first. My grandfather put on Italian music, and I danced around the room to “Felicità,” completely in the moment. Felicità means happiness. I didn’t know the word then. I just felt it.

Design your next chapter on purpose

I work with a limited number of leaders through private Identity Strategy Sessions. In a session, we name your Identity Gap and build the map that closes it. You leave with a structure you can run.
